Old Mutual Global Investors enhances Emerging Market Debt team
Delphine Arrighi promoted to Co-Fund Manager
Old Mutual Global Investors (“OMGI”), part of Old Mutual Wealth, has today announced that John Peta, Head of Emerging Market Debt, has promoted Delphine Arrighi to Co-Manager on the $114.9 million¹ Old Mutual Local Currency Emerging Market Debt Fund.
Delphine will also take on the Co-Manager position on the $173.2 million¹ Old Mutual Emerging Market Debt Fund (the “Funds”), which is set to be insourced from Stone Harbour Investment Partners LP to OMGI on 21 January 2016.
Delphine, who started at OMGI in September 2015, will manage the Funds with John Peta. This appointment is in line with the growth strategy of OMGI’s Fixed Income team, focusing on career development for talented individuals and the strengthening of its core investment capabilities.
John and Delphine, who have previously worked together at Threadneedle Investments, will be supported by Emerging Market Debt Analyst Mikhail Volodchenko. Mikhail has a strong background in quant analysis and his skills complement the fundamental bias of the portfolio.
The team will work together to ensure the Funds continue to meet their objective of achieving growth through investment in a well-diversified portfolio of fixed and variable rate debt securities issued In the emerging markets.
They will also use their wealth of knowledge and experience to offer guidance on the emerging market debt exposure in OMGI’s other fixed income funds.
John Peta comments:
“Both Delphine and Mikhail have a significant amount of emerging market debt investment knowledge and by reinforcing our team based approach we are able to work together to expand our emerging market debt offering for clients.
“I am glad that OMGI continues to be a top destination for talent in the industry and has been able to offer Delphine this career development opportunity.”
Christine Johnson, Head of Fixed Income at Old Mutual Global Investors comments:
“We have identified emerging market debt as a core area in which we can offer more value to clients in an era where developed market returns are dwindling. Through the appointment of John Peta last year and building the team, we can now offer emerging market debt capabilities in both hard and local currencies, as well as utilising their knowledge to inform our holistic view of bond markets.
“By working as co-managers, John and Delphine will be able to use their combined knowledge to identify areas of value for our clients as investors look to benefit from attractive yields across emerging market regions in 2016.”
Delphine joined OMGI in September 2015 from Threadneedle Investments where she was a Senior Sovereign Analyst from January 2014. Prior to this Delphine was at Standard Chartered Bank where she was a Senior Emerging Markets Rates and FX Strategist and has spent time in the London, Hong Kong and Dubai offices. Delphine started her career in Paris at BNP Paribas Asset Management in 2000.
Mikhail joined OMGI in June 2015 from Ignis Asset Management where he held a variety of roles. Mikhail started at Ignis in 2008 as an Investment Analyst in the client investment office before becoming an Investment Risk Manager in the portfolio analytics team. He most recently worked as an Emerging Market Fixed Income Analyst for the Ignis EM Fixed Income team.
John Peta joined OMGI as Head of Emerging Market Debt in March 2015.
